I have a whole bunch of Rebel flags I have found on the Official Records, Confederate Military History and other Civil War CD'S.

I'm still finding Union flags here and there, but much slower. All the easy finds are dry up. Oh good news, Charles, that "Union captured list" from the summer of 2006 was the "Returned Union Colors" (Identified).

I had been searching in law books in the Library of Congress and no books had that list. Only found it by chance on microfilm.

I am reading the OR'S from top to bottom and looking for any small stuff, I might have missed. Then I will know I missed nothing.

Cedar Mountain is a bit tough on the thrid captured Union flag. The 5th Virginia claims to have captured all the Union flags. An officer from Branch's brigade, made a soldier from the 5th Virginia turn over one of those flags. I do not know what that last flag was.

I have the 5th Connecticut and 28th New York losing flags at Cedar Mountain. The veterens of the 5th Virginia went to Buffalo (I believe) and gave back the captured flag. The last flag must be from either the 5th Conn or 28th New York, regimental or National.

Never found any evidence that another Union regiment lost a flag there, it is possible though.
