N.B.Buford wrote the report that his men (commanding all) had captured "3 Large Flags and 2 guidons." One of the flags had "Victory or Death" upon it.
Check for OR 8, pages 118, 119 etc. See what you can make out of it.
Now the 21st Tenn, had run before the Union troops even got there. The 21st Tenn lost their "Books" roster, etc. The federals looked through the books and realized that the 21st Tenn had 661 men for duty that morning.
The 2nd Iowa Cavalry also was in this and they claim to not have a "Federal Flag" to hang upon the captured CSA Camp. So the 2nd Iowa Cav, took their own flags, guidons and put them up.
Like usual, no mention on who lost flags.
