19th Georgia or 14th Tennessee?

Hello,

>>>>Gregg, great article in the Blue&Grey magazine. That man, Frank O'Reilly, did the colorful, regimental detailed maps on Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Spotsylvania and the Wilderness. His book is very good on Fredericksburg, but I don't believe he is a expert on the flags. He is the leading expert on the battle of Fredericksburg. But I am going to agree with you that the flag in question was not the 19th Georgia but indeed the 14th Tennessee. >>>>>

Frank is indeed THE expert on that battle and a super guy to boot. But sometimes the sources get it wrong and his sources are indeed wrong here though no fault of his.

As for the maps, David Roth of Blue & Gray does all of the maps in that magazine and they have really gotten better over the last few years I think. The series for the five part Chickamauga Campaign were simply amazing and I used them on a recent tour of that battle that I conducted.

Glad that you enjoyed my letter on the 14th TN/19th GA flag issue.
