I am reading the OR from top to bottom (to see if I missed anything).
OR 5, Series 1, page 515: "The 49th Virginia Infantry lost a flag to the 28th Pennsylvania (Colonel John. W. Geary). This was at Warrenton, Virginia, 1862.
OR 9, Page 101, "21st Massachusetts captured a flag on Roanoke Island", "Aut Vincere aut mori."
OR 11, page 430, "In this charge a regimental standard, with the coat of arms of Virginia, was captured." The 1st US Cavalry captured that flag, at Williamsburg, May 1862. (Stuart's OR report has the 1st-3rd-4th Va Cav there, so it must be one of them. (This is the flag that Custer claims, HE captured, lol)
Interesting, the 3rd Virginia Cav led by Colonel Goode, on OR 11, page 444, claims that his regiment "captured the enemy's flag." (what and who??)
OR 11, page 577, "The 9th Alabama captured the 8 gun battery at Williamsburg alone with the flag "To Hell or Richmond." The 19th Virginia came up to help bring the captured artillery away, but many were stuck in the mud and only 4 were brought off.
A.P.Hill's brigade captured "7 stands of colors" at Williamsburg and I know of only 2 captured at Williamsburg. "To Hell or Richmond" and the 70th New York lost a flag.
OR 11, page 430, "Private, John Thompson, captured a guidon from the enemy." Battery C, 3rd US Artillery (Thompson's unit). What Confederate guidon and who lost it???
OR 11, page 541, "The 5th Wisconsin captured the 5th NC's Flag at Williamsburg."
