Although there is no written description of this flag of the 15th AL Regt, there are a series of war time illustrations of the the unit in action that were published by Col WC Oates in 'The War between the Union and Confederacy' (1905). The image of the flag is small as it appears in the sketch of the unit at Chickamauga (after page 268) and at Fussells Mill (after page 354) but it does not appear to show any battle honors painted or sewn on it. The image of the flag is larger, and the details distinct, in the "drawing made on the field" of the unit at Spottsylvania (after page 376); here it clearly does not show battle honors. Regards, Terry
