The 9th New Hampshire will be very disappointed to learn that the flag of the 17th/23rd Tennessee Infantry was, in fact, taken by the 17th Vermont Infantry in June, 1864. I do not know the troop placement of the Union attack and perhaps the 1th VT and 9th NH were side by side but WD 144 was sent to the War Department as a 17th VT capture.

This is one of two Hardee pattern battle flags taken in the Eastern Theater, brought there when Bushrod Johnson's Brigade was sent east with Longstreet's Corps. The Hardee flag of the 25th/44th Tennessee was also taken in June, 1864 by the 48th Pennsylvania (WD 145).

The 63rd Tennessee also lost a flag in June, 1864 to the 11th New Hampshire (WD 147).

These Union attacks were along the Dimmock Line east of Petersburg. Johnson's TN Brigade held part of that along with troops from Wise's Brigade and two other brigades of Johnson's Division. WD 144-147 were taken there and two flags also taken there (I do not think that both were sent to the WD - probably only one and maybe neither of them were) were taken at Battery Five which was held by Sturdivant's VA Battery and supported by the 26th VA Infantry. Both lost their flags to the 13th New Hampshire and were detailed and drawn in their unit history. One of them was mis-identified as the 63rd Tennessee and it is currently in the collections of the Atlanta History Center. It is the flag of one of these two VA units and WD 146 should be the other.

WD 146 is not identified to any capturing unit that I have found and if the 9th New Hampshire took a flag as claimed (unless they co-captured the 17th/23rd TN) it might be WD 146.
