I did find this about another flag at Camp Brown, but it's not about the G.M.I. flag that was loaned to the camp.

April 24th, 1861
The (Rome) Light Guards sat up until one 0'clock in the morning making the first Confederate flag at Camp Brown"

Maybe it was not so grand to look at; that the G.M.I cadets volunteered their flag to the camp.
