The Home Guard of Washington Co. organized at Vernon was led by Capt. W.B. Jones. He and a few of his men met the Union raiders on their return back from Marianna. They were captured and sent to Ships Island.
Does anyone know the names of Capt. Jones men that were captured?
Why were they not listed as P.O.W.s at Ships Island? Was it because they were Home Guard and not reg. service?
