Re: Skirmish at Eucheeanna, Walton County

The ferry must have been built back after the war.

The McQuagge/McQuaig family lost their 80 acre homestead at Eucheeanna after Norman McQuagge's death in 1863 by trading it to a John P. Morrison for some money owed. In his affidavit in a quiet title suit in 1931, D. C. Morrison, age 70, states that he was "raised adjoining" this land, that "the McQuaig's made a trade with John P. Morrison, my father, (and) he accepted the property on payment for a receipt in full....", and that he "remember(s) going with my father to Old Douglass Ferry to meet the McQuaigs."
