Union troops in Post-war Jackson County

In August 1865, Dr. Ethelred Philips wrote to his brother that a detachment of about fifty New York troops had been stationed in Marianna for about month. Surprisingly, this unit and particularly its captain were quite popular. When they were notified that the New York troops were to be replaced by a unit of U.S. Colored Troops, Philips reported that Mariannna citizens petitioned to keep the New Yorkers. Anybody have any ideas about which units these may have been? I know that later during Reconstruction small detachments of the U.S. 7th Infantry were periodically stationed in Marianna.
