No problem at all. I'm actually reading a book on the Nez Perce affair right now and was not aware of the connection! Interesting.

I am trying to document a long-standing legend in my family that a Union officers (said to be a lieutenant) was shot and killed and buried under an ancestors front porch. As the story goes, he was attracted to one of my female ancestors, but her husband was less than pleased and planted him under the porch. Have you stumbled across any mention of a missing officer in your Reconstruction research?
