I hate to tell you that the road is not rebuilt. They are still having discussions on what to do. Some want to make a road on pilings to prevent or at least help keep this from happening again. The enviromental groups are thinking this may 'disturb' the normal flora and fauna. They had started the rebuild after Ivan but Dennis just plain tore that up. The shoreline has been changed a number of times in the past few years due to the storm surges.The fort is open but you have to either hike or bicycle from the main entrance (quite a distance in the hot sand) or you can go there by boat. They just two weeks ago replaced the museum building back on the foundation. It had washed off and was a number of yards away from it.

They did film some scenes that were in the last 3 episodes of Prison Break there last March. Took all the equipment by barge.
