Conscript Camps and Reserve Forces

A thread has started on the Alabama site about the locations of Conscript Camps in the state, so I thought I would add one here for Florida.

I am aware of two that were established in Florida in 1864, Marianna and Madison. These were created as locations for the organization and training of the 1st Florida Infantry Reserves.

The Marianna camp lay adjacent to Interstate 10 just southwest of the city (today the site of a gas station).

Following the formation of the 1st Reserves, the Marianna camp remained in operation and a number of conscripts were there at the time of the Battle of Marianna on September 27, 1864, when the camp was destroyed.
