Interesting to note that he was sent by Regt. Order for Special Service on Oct 28/64 and never returned. He was listed as deserted on the Nov. muster roll.
I wonder if there were any operations going on, about that time, that he would have been sent out to?
How was the ability to desert so simple? You would think that after so many,they would have come up with some better options to keep them in camp. FOREHAND also left in full uniform, including all sidearms and saber, full canteen and cartridges and horse. He seems to be heading out vs. sneaking out.
Would love to hear thoughts??
