Since Archibald and Daniel Cameron resided in nearby Santa Rosa County, I would expect the family to have brought Daniel's body home for burial.

Both men belonged to Capt. J. B. Vaughn's "Bragg Mounted Rangers" which organized at Pensacola, Fla., Apr. 24, 1862. During the night of May 9, 1862, Confederate troops burned their military installations between Barrancas and the navy yard, withdrawing to Oakville, six miles north of the city. Afterwards Confederates maintained encampments at Cantonment and Gonzoles, or Fifteen Mile Station.

Col. John R. F. Tattnall of the 29th Alabama Regiment commanded the Confederate "Detachment of Observation" left here to watch the Federals encamped around Pensacola Bay. That may be the reason for the reference to Camp Tattnall. A book titled "Hold At All Hazards" about the 29th Alabama may reference Camp Tattnall -- it does include a picture of Col. Tattnall.

You may wish to post this question on the Alabama message board. At least one person on that board believes Camp Tattnall refers to the main Confederate camp on the railroad at Pollard, Ala.
