Re: Andrew J Nobles CSA & Union

Thank you so much for your response! Andrew J. Nobles can be found in the household of his mother in 1850 Coffee Co., AL. Her name was (Nancy) Ann Nobles. Ancestry.com has her indexed as Ann Nobbs. Her eldest boys, Elisha, William D. and John Calvin were already in Santa Rosa Co., Fl by this time. In 1860 the entire Nobles clan was in Santa Rosa. But Andrew is not in the census survey. I'm not sure why. But I am positive that he stayed in the South Al/ N. Fl area. At that time, Coffee Co. ran to the state line and most of my ancestors lived very close to the state line and my family still does! :) I'm not sure why, but John C. Nobles, Andrew J. Nobles, and Elisha Nobles left Santa Rosa Co., Fl to join the CSA in Elba, Coffee Co., Al and they all were in Co. K of the 57th.
The other brother William D. and Morgan joined units in Santa Rosa Co., Florida. Morgan was so much younger that I can understand why he joined in FL. But, I have never figured out why William D. didn't go with the other boys. But that's another mystery for another time.

Thank you for alerting me to the very large banner at the top of the page. You were right, I didn't even notice it. I will order the pension files later tonight! :)

Thanks,
Tonia
