Re: New... looking for reenactments in my area

I will be doing a living history March 15 in Fort Walton Beach with my unit, and another living history that will feature a small skirmish in Century, Florida on March 29th. In April, some of us are going to Selma, Alabama on the 20th. It's a full weekend event, but we're only going Sunday.

After that, the season is pretty much over for us, because it gets too hot to wear wool uniforms. Those soldiers back then were a tougher lot than we are today. :)

Some individual members are going to Gettysburg this summer, what brave souls they are. Then the season starts again next fall and we do it all over again.

You should really and try to catch Olustee next Feb., and of course Natural Bridge is a nice little reenactment as well. I've never been to Brooksville, but then again I prefer real battles. Although there was a small raid there, it was nothing like the reenactment that takes place now. One thing to beware of is that some reenactor's equipment and uniforms aren't exactly period accurate. While the average consumer wouldn't notice such things, an experienced reenactor or living historian would.

Good luck with the series, I hope you can get some nice references for your artwork.
