The Civil War Preservation Trust has included the Natural Bridge Battlefield in Florida on its 2008 list of the "10 Most Endangered" Civil War Battlefields.

Although the central portion of the battlefield has been preserved as a state park, other areas where intense fighting took place have not.

I hope you will all join me in writing to the Governor, Cabinet members and your local legislators to encourage that the State of Florida act to save the rest of the Natural Bridge battlefield while there is still time. Each year the state spends millions of dollars to acquire sensitive property in Florida. With public support, some of this funding could go save the site of the Battle of Natural Bridge.
