Re: Who is buried in 30 CSA gravesites

Carol,

The Confederates lost 934 men killed and wounded at the Battle of Ocean Pond, aka Oulstee.

From the Civil War Battles Page you can obtain the Confederate Order of Battle. In that listing is a partial listing of killed.

From that list I traced the first two officer's unit rosters and found a few other men of these units who were identified as having been killed at Ocean Pond, Florida, Feb. 20, 1864.

Others killed at the battle will also be found by searching the rosters of the other units engaged. This is rather a brute force means of identifying casualties.

Obviously, not all of these folks were reburied at Oak Ridge, but, it's at least a start. You might also want to seek out the nearest SCV and UDC Camps who might have intelligence re these burials.

Visit also the Battle of Olustee webstite at: http://battleofolustee.org/index.html

Good hunting,
