Re: Florida Refugees

I love it. My 2gtgrandfather, David Pierpont MORGAN enlisted in the spring of 1864 and died at Cedar Key of scurvy in Oct.(I think I'm right!) of the same year. He was buried at a cemetery near there which is now under water. His wife, and my 2gtgrandmother, was Frances WATSON MORGAN and was left with 5 small children to raise and no home, as it had been one of those burned.
My gtgrandfather MORGAN, Richard Thomas, was in the CSA, as was Papa David's brother, Elijah C. I've also found out that Uncle Elijah went to Texas after the war and raised a rather large and successful family out there. My grandfather, etc., thought he had gone to S. FL and died down there.
Praise the Lord, I have men in my family to be proud of for their service to their country, from the Revolution to the present.
God bless,
Carolyn
