Fights at Cotton Creek and Escambia River

I'd like to bring the attention of this group to a nifty account of a fight at Cotton Creek in March, 1865 that appears in Mamie Yeary's book, Reminiscences of the Boys in Gray on pages 618-619.

Robert Posey of Tom Watts' company of Alabama cavalry states that there was a Federal thrust from Pensacola to tear up the railroad running from Montgomery to Mobile and that Clanton and his cavalry brigade was sent from Pollard into Florida to thwart the Federa.s Eight or ten miles from the Escambia, Posey and his company prevented the Federals from crossing the river by burning the bridge and firing on the Federals from a stockade on the far side. The rebels then fell back to the Escumbia River where they were defeated the next day by the 2nd NY Cavalry and 1st Louisiana Regiment and Clanton was wounded and captured..

Perhaps a devoteee of Florida's Civil War can give me more details concerning these two fights.

Here is the link to Yeary's book and the account of the fight at Cotton Creek.
