I did not find a J. L. Hodges in the 10th, but found one in the 2nd Florida, Company A, who I would believe is your man.

The four Hodges found in the roster of the 10th Florida are noted below.

On 2/14/1863 he mustered into "A" Co. FL 2nd Battn Infantry
(date and method of discharge not given)
He was listed as:

* Hospitalized 8/27/1864 Howard's Grove Hospital, Richmond, VA
* Furloughed 9/5/1864 Howard's Grove Hospital, Richmond, VA (Furloughed to Columbia, FL)
He was described at enlistment as:
5' 10.0", fair complexion, blue eyes, grey hair
