Hard to tell if these are the same folk, Montgomery Co. and Pensacola are not that close. However, being a merchant could make this work.

Enlisted on 5/31/1861 at Pensacola, FL as a Captain.
On 6/11/1861 he was commissioned into "K" Co. FL 1st Infantry
He was Mustered Out on 4/6/1862
