If you have Chickamauga in mind, a different soldier was wounded at Chickamauga. This was Harvey J. Goddard, Co. "K", 1st Florida Cavalry (dismounted), wounded on Sept. 19th. He enlisted on Jan. 21, 1862, Ichepuckesassa FL, a resident of Manatee, age 16. Corporal Goddard's name appears on a roll of honor dated Aug. 10, 1864. He died June 3, 1930.
Benjamin E. Goddard enlisted on Feb. 1, 1864, Dalton GA, Co. "K", 7th Florida Regiment, so he couldn't have seen action in 1863. He was discharged as underage, Sept. 7, 1864.
