I need help from anyone knowledgeable of the movement's of this unit on it's trek to Virginia? I have a Great grand uncle,Jonathan Allred, who served with this unit and captured at Spotsylvania in May of '64. My question is this? Did this Company travel up through Alabama, and recruit troops along the way? My relative was from North Central Alabama, and I'm wondering how he got into this unit.
Any info on this man is apprieciated.
