Robert Arthur Nolan 1841-1902

Robert Nolan was a Texas Ranger and served with the 6th Texas Cavalry Regiment, part of Ross' Texas Cavalry Brigade. After the war he married and lived in MS and TN.

In about 1883 he brought his family to Florida. He settled in the Tampa area. In 1894-98 time frame he lost all his property in the Lake Weir/ Ocala area due to the big freeze and his investment in orange growing. In 1900, possibly estranged from his wife who was living in Tampa, he was living in a rooming house in Lowell near his daughter Ida Grover (aka Argazona Nolan).

In 1902 he requested a pension in August. It was approved 7 September 1902, one day after he died. At this point I loose him. He is buried near a red brick Baptist Church in Lowell, which no longer exists??? Did the Confederate Veterans assist in his burial? Would there be more than an after the fact article in the paper that he had died. Robert A. Nolan b. Apr 1841, Wilson County, TN, d. 6 Sep 1902, Lowell or Ocala???

I would like to place a confederate Marker and Ranger Cross at his grave site or in the Cemetery he may be buried in. I have found his brothers site in Rome County GA and will do the same for him. He had been a builder in that area and had built to big homes. It is said they still exist.

Robert has Two sons and a daughter in law buried in Marion County. There are several Davis buried there who were my mothers family. Would appreciate some help in solving this problem. My parents are buried at Lake Placid. My dad never knew his Grand dad was a Confederate soldier.
