Question for you experts...

My ancestor, John James Hall, Sr., was said to have fought in the Battle of Cumberland Gap and died in 1862
after probably being in te hospoital (war record).

It seems tht he was sick almost the whole time he was trying to fight; and... he never came home to his large family after his death.

Family rumors are that:

1. He defected tot he Union.

He MAY? have taken the Oath of Allegienace; but, his records do not

show this. If the Union soldiers came through his hospital; it is possible

he was very patriotic.
2. He died the day the CW ended. Not true!

He died in 1862; not 1865. Maybe he died the day the Bttle of Cumberland

Gap ended???
3, He is buried at Arlintgton National Cemetery.

Not true; but, I find about four other Arlingtons in variouos states:

Artlington, Georgia--he would almost be home by then...

Arlington, Kentucky

Arlington, Virginia and others

Military papers give some kind of location that looks like a grave # ; but, I don't know where he is buried.

I would like you experts to tell me what you think please. Since I am a United Daughter of the Confederacy, I feel like I should know more about the battles; but, I dont and am really handicapped
in that I am not that interested in the battles, just their sacrifices!

Thanks ahead guys!
