After a summer break, the Tallahassee Historical Society
will resume its programs on Thursday, October 20, 2011

St. In observance of the Sequicentennial of the Civil
War, our featured address will be "Checks and Imbalances.
Governor John Milton and Florida's Civil War Council" by
Boyd Murphree. Mr. Murphree, an archivist from the State
of Florida Archives, holds a Ph.D. in history from Florida
State University and specializes in antebellum and Civil War
history. He is currently editing a history of Florida's governors,
as well as working on a biography of Governor John Milton.
