Re: 1st Florida U.S. Cavalry
I just sent a message to Dale at his website but thought I would have a try at this forum too. I am trying to glean information on two and possibly three brothers from Baldwin County, Alabama who enlisted in the 1st Florida Calvary. Robert J. White enlisted in Feb 1864 and was assigned to Co. F. Asa J. White and Joseph White enlisted in May 1864 and were assigned to Co. A. Robert mustered out in Nov 1865 as a private and Joseph mustered out on the same date with rank unknown. Asa is listed as a casualty but I don't know in which skirmish he was killed or where he is buried. I suspect he may be in one of the 'unknown' graves in the Civil War section at Barrancas National Cemetery. I cannot find any post-war records on Joseph White or his wife. I have some thoughts on what may have happened to them since he fought in the Battle of Blakeley and his home was only a few miles from there. I would appreciate any information you can provide.
