The Tallahassee Historical Society is excited to announce that our speaker will be Gary Doster, noted author, wildlife biologist, and Georgia memorabilia collector, who resides in Athens, Georgia. He will address us on his recent work entitled "Dear Sallie...The Letters of Confederate Private James Jewell, Echols Light Artillery, Oglethorpe County, Georgia." James spent a lot of time during the Civil War in the Tallahassee and Quincy areas. The letters he wrote were mainly addressed to his sister Sallie, in Georgia. Following the lecture there will be a book signing and refreshments.
Open to the public. Persons interested in the Civil War will not want to miss it. No admission fee.
