Thanks so much for the information. I have been searching off and on for several years trying to find some info on the 1st FL Union Cav. Re: the genealogy, Robt. Garrett (b. 1777) was father of Wm. W. whose children were John Sheridan "Jack" Garrett (Pos. 57th Inf. Reg. Alabama, my GG GF three gens removed) and Wm. R. (1st FL Cav Union). Brother of Wm. W. was James C. whose children included Overstreet W. Garrett (1st Fl Cav Union, age 18 b. 1847), therefore Wm. R's 1st cousin.
The above link adamantly put forward that Wm. R was "CSA" but I think your info proves otherwise. Either the family was un-informed or trying to change history!
The genealogy is per email@example.com who has performed extensive research into our family tree and the history of the Garretts, Wilkinsons, Tuckers and Samsoms (among others) in the NW FL - S AL (Coffee County) branch. She is a fount of info and would be tickled to hear from you. Barbara worked for years (and may still) at the Baker Museum.
Anyway, the roster of the 1st FL Union Cav includes several family names (Richbourgs, Barrow, Tucker, etc). So, looking forward to the book! Might even add the Kindle edition when it becomes available. Its an interesting side-show to the big-show especially for this NW FL boy!
