The preponderance of data indicates Edward to be his given name. However, no firm reference to validate. Perhaps this could be authenticated through researching his wife's trail, but I no longer have access to Ancestry.com and have come to a dead end.

Edward Mashburn, enlisted 7/5/1861, 2nd Lieutenant, Company G, 3rd Regiment Florida Infantry at Madison, FL, promoted Major & transferred to Field & Staff, Lt. Col. 2/19/1863, paroled 5/1/1865 at Greensboro, NC, description on enlistment: born in 1830, resident of Quincy FL, married Susan J. Moseley 12/08/1864
