Re: A Few Florida Ancestors Sought

I may have it wrong, but this is what I have for the Deas/Dees:

Matthew M Deas/Dees
-born 1794 in Robeson County, SC
-died 11-10-1873 in Hamilton County, FL
-father John M Dees (1763-1846); mother Mary/Maria Smith (1770-1861)
-first wife: Virginia Strickland (1795-1851)
--child Lewis Maloney Dees (1815-1902)
-second wife: Rebecca Downing (m. 1-9-1853; 1802-1880)
-served? all I have is something about being a Justice of the Peace in town, not serving in the army itself
-relation: 4th great grandfather

Matthew's son, Lewis Maloney Dees by Virginia:
-born 2-8-1815 in Tattnall County, GA
-died 4-12-1902 in Lafayette County, FL
-married Lydia Henderson (1829-1894) in 1848
-served?
-relation: 3rd great grandfather
-has a son, Lewis Summer Dees (b 1865) who is my 2nd great grandfather

Matthew's son, Matthew M Dees Jr, by Virginia:
-born 8-11-1818
-died 1-26-1891
-served: 10th Florida Infantry, Co. B, Private
-relation: 3rd great grand-uncle
