Edward Wilson of Murray County

According to family stories, my great-great grandfather, Edward Wilson, served with the Confederate Army.

He lived with his family (wife, Elizabeth) on a farm in the Holly Creek area of Murray County from around 1850 to 1870, when they moved to Texas.

He was born in North Carolina (possibly Yancy County) in July of 1827. He died in Bell Bounty Texas in 1923.

I was told that he was captured by Union forces, but I honestly don't know where--or indeed if this is true.

I'd be very grateful if anyone could verify that he did infact serve with the Army of the Confederacy and, if so, which unit he was with.
