Thanks, everyone!

To everyone who replied to my post about Edward Wilson of Murray County: I'm really overwhelmed with your generosity. What a wealth of information!

I did, as Jim Martin, the Webmaster, suggested and e-mailed Alan Pitts, who's going to look into the matter.

In the meantime, though, it seems that my Edward may well be Edward B. Wilson of Company A, 39th GA, who evidently deserted in 1863 (place and circumstances unknown) and took the Oath of Allegiance at Chatanooga in 1864. In his defense--if this is in fact my great-great grandfather--he was well over draft age and had a large family at home, and so may not have been the most eager recruit. Who knows?

If I can determine whether this Edward Wilson is the right age, I may have enough information to risk a CSR search.

Again, thanks so much for all you nice folks who responded.
