Phil,
The canton was dark blue, 38.75" on the staff by 38.5" on the fly. Made of cotton.
Eleven 5-pointed stars, each 2.5" in diameter, set in a circle, 23.5" in diameter, painted.
Field was three horizontal bars: red, white & red.
Material: red is cotton, white is cotton flannel.
The unit designation, 31st GEORGIA REGT., was painted in gold Roman uncial letters, 4" high, inclusive of a black shadow, low and to the left on the numbers and low and to the right on the letters, across the white central bar.
"31st" is painted on a white cotton rectangle, 5"x 5.75", sewn over the original number, "27th", which was painted directly on the white central bar.
