Re: 45th Georgia
In Response To: 45th Georgia ()

Dear Mr. Hardy:

Company F, 45th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, was raised in Jones County, Georgia. The muster roll for Company F, 45th Regiment, was found in Macon (Bibb County) in May of 1956, upon removal of a Confederate monument. Under Jones County Georgia genealogy, on the internet, you can find the regimental history and muster roll.

The 45th fought with Stonewall Jackson in Virginia, saw a number of battles and skirmishes, and some of their soldiers were surrendered at Appomattox.

Also a good source of information on-line is the Virginia Historical Society. They will respond on-line to basic questions that are well-defined.

Two of my great, great uncles were serving in Company F, 45th Regiment. First Sgt. Hardy Christian, C.S.A., was surrendered at Appomattox and Pvt. William Christian died at Guiney Station, Virginia, in May 1863. Guiney Station, Virginia, was where Stonewall Jackson was housed after being shot and this is where Stonewall Jackson died.

The Virginia Historical Society was very helpful to me, also.

There is something good in Jones County, Georgia.

Sincerely,

Terri Anne Hastings
