Diane,
My name is Neal Griffin, and I maintain a website on the 9th Georgia Volunteer Infantry at:
http://members.aol.com/Gainf9reg/index2.html
Pvt. Henry C. Tison was in K Company of the 9th Georgia Infantry. K Company was formed in Americus, Ga. (Sumter County), on 11 June 1861, went to Virginia shortly afterward, and fought with the Army of Northern Virginia until it surrendered on 9 April, 1865. There is only a sketchy record on him, derived from Lillian Henderson's "Roster of the Confederate Soldiers of Georgia, 1861-1865". It is:
Tison, Henry C. ---- private June 11, 1861 . Roll for February 28, 1865 ,last on file, shows him present. No later record.
You may want to look around the website for the battles and experiences of the men. The 9th Georgia fought along-side the 7th, 8th, 11th and 59th Georgia Regiments in Gen. George T. ("Tige", as in Tiger)Anderson's Brigade, in Longstreet's I Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia. To see what their uniforms looked like, there is a photo of Pvt. Jesse Peek of K Company, online as part of the Sumter County website (which I also maintain) at:

I have a roster of K Company, the "Americus Volunteer Rifles", posted online at:
http://members.aol.com/Gainf9reg/index16.html
Again, you may want to look over the roster of K Company to get a feel for what they went through. I also maintain an email list of Descendants of the men, in case additional info, or a miracle such as a photograph are discovered. If interested in that, let me know, and I'll get you added. From the info I have, Pvt. Tison was a brave man, and served the South with honor. There would be somewhat more info available from his CSA CSR (Compiled Service Record), available from the Dept. of Archives and History in Atlanta. For their address, or if I can answer any additional questions, please let me know. A copy of the 9th's Regimental Battleflag is below:
