Re: Goode's GA Cavalry
In Response To: Goode's GA Cavalry ()

Charles T. Goode served as Major of the 19th Georgia Partisan Ranger Battalion. The battalion included five companies; four from Georgia and one from Alabama. Georgia companies were recruited in Bibb, Pulaski, Dooly, Dougherty and Lee Counties.

On Dec. 27, 1862, the Adjutant and Inspector General created the 10th Confederate Cavalry, joining five companies of Slaughter’s 17th Alabama Cavalry Battalion and five companies of Goode’s 19th Georgia Partisan Ranger Battalion. Slaughter’s had been the 5th Battalion of Hilliard’s Alabama Legion.

For your purposes, a soldier who belonged to the 10th Confederate Cavalry probably has two sets of service files. These may be ordered through the message board.
