Charles T. Goode served as Major of the 19^th Georgia Partisan Ranger Battalion. The battalion included five companies; four from Georgia and one from Alabama. Georgia companies were recruited in Bibb, Pulaski, Dooly, Dougherty and Lee Counties.

On Dec. 27, 1862, the Adjutant and Inspector General created the 10^th Confederate Cavalry, joining five companies of Slaughter’s 17th Alabama Cavalry Battalion and five companies of Goode’s 19th Georgia Partisan Ranger Battalion. Slaughter’s had been the 5th Battalion of Hilliard’s Alabama Legion.
