Hi Jim,
Thanks for your message. Eli J. Garnder was my great-great uncle. I know nothing of him accept birth and death dates. I think I mis-stated his death date. Should have been 1864. I have no family info that he was in the Civil War, but guessing from the date of his death, I found an Eli J Gardner listed in this division of the Conferderate troops. I suspect that they are the same person, but have not found anything on the internet to indicate whether The Eli in this unit died while serving. Was hoping to verify a little bit before I spent the $37.00 to get a copy of any records from the National Archives.

What do you know about this group and where they served. A gentleman on another internet site said that they served at the Andersonville Prison. I have not been able to find anything in writing. How about you?
