Regiment of Sherman J. Sims of Jackson County?
In Response To: Sherman J. Sims ()

Does anyone have any ideas about which unit Sherman J. Sims of Jackson County may have been in or can someone please tell me a good way to find out which unit he was in? He and his family lived in Maysville during the WBTS. He died at home of typhoid fever on 16 Jan 1863 when he was forty years old. He is definitely not the S. J. Sims, who was in the 40th GA Infantry, because this man was captured in July of 1863 in MS. He is buried at Sunrise Cemetery in Maysville. His grave marker has a much smaller marker leaning up against it that is inscribed with S. J. SIMS, GA STATE TROOPS, 61 - 65, C. S. A.
