My Great Granfather William L Godfrey died in Atlanta,Georgia in the Hosp. Reported to be sick in hospital Sept. and OCT.1863. any inf of where the 38th did battle will be helpful. Also, where were the Sol.'s buried then in Atlanta, His wife ,Caroline rec.a letter telling of his death. She never was told any thing else and never saw him again. She later rec. a pension from the state of Georgia. William enlisted May 15 1862 Atlanta, Ga.for 3 years. He had made 5 Sergt. in rank.
