52nd Georgia Vol. Inf. _Edwards

My g-g-grandfather, Lemuel B. Edwards, was in the 52nd Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Company A. The muster roll says he died of diarrhea in Clinton, Tennesse, on June 9, 1862. We have no record of where he is buried. Would the soldiers have been buried in the town where they died or would they have been sent home for burial? If anyone knows of a cemetery in Clinton, Tennessee, or in that area that might be a burial site for Confederate soldiers, I would appreciate the information. Thanks!
