Howdy, I am a Texan to! My family went from Georgia to Texas after the war.

Here is a little info. on the 51st Georgia and it looks like James Hopkins may have more family in this unit.

Hopkins, J. S.- 1st Corporal March 4, 1862. (Born in 1840.)

Hopkins, Francis M. D.- Enlisted as a private in Co. H, 6th Regiment Ga. Inf. May 27, 1861. Discharged, disability, December 20, 1861. Elected Captain of Co. D, 5lst Regiment Ga. Inf. March 4, 1862. Resigned April 29, 1863. (Born in 1815.)

If you know for sure that Benjamin Kendrick was in in state service you may have to send off for his records to find more info. on him.
