19th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry (Ocmulgee Rangers)

Found the article below in a copy of the Macon Daily Telegraph dated July 24, 1862.

Seaking additional information on the Rangers companies listed.

Does anyone know where the Academy lot mentioned would've been located?

Would also like to learn more about Major Goode.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Partisan Rangers

Capt. Coley’s Company and Capt. Leith’s Company, of Rangers, from Pulaski county, arrived yesterday evening, and went into camp with the Ocmulgee Rangers, on the Academy lot. They are a fine body of men. Captain Vason’s, from Houston, is expected to arrive today. We understand that the organization of the Battalion will be perfected in a few days. It is understood that C. T. Goode, Esq., of Houston County, is to be the Major. – This will be a good selection. Gallant, firm and energetic, he will make a good officer – an officer of vim. We predict for the Battalion that if brought into active service, “somebody will get hurt,” sure. They will astonish the Yanks to a certainty.
