Re: Col. William T. Millican, Franklin County, GA

Hart,

I am researching Toombs'/Benning's Brigade with the intention of publishing in the next few years, and in this context took a look around for the same information.

The website referenced by Mr Pitts also has a hand drawn map of the cemetery, showing the locations of all known burials. Sadly, I was unable to locate Col Millican's. I have not visited the cemetery to know if anything else is marked there.

Col Millican may not be famous today, but manuscript sources indicate he was well respected by his comrades, and his loss was felt by the brigade as a whole, in addition to his family and regiment.

directions to map:

follow links for "Civil War", then "Confederate Soldiers at Antietam", then "Washington Confederate Cemetery"

Are you or your mother the soource of the William Millican letters published in Confederate Reminiscences and Letters, Volume VII?
