Re: Ishmel Woodsoon Reeves, 19th Ga Regt.

Reeves was 4th Sergt. of the "Villa Rica Gold Diggers", Co. "I" of this regiment. His name appears on the 1907 census of Confederate veterans in DeKalb County AL. His Alabama pension papers show that him still living there in 1916. According to both papers, he was born in Athens, Ga., Sept. 25, 1835.

Reeves' service file doesn't include discharge papers, but he mentions being disabled and released from service at Front Royal (Va.?) in June 1863. At this time he says the regiment was marching towards South Carolina. I don't understand that. If I knew a little about the regiment's activities during the summer of 1863, it might make more sense.

Let me know if any of this helped.
