It's not silly. But I doubt an established regiment would temporarily change the name of a company just because of the duty in which they were engaged. The regiment was in training, learning to march and to obey battle field commands. I think it is more likely that there were home guards assigned guard duty, and that one of these was the McDonald Guards. As I said, I guess we'llnever know. They all served. Stan
