Rick --

At this late date Avery's men would not/could not have worn a uniform distinguishing them from other Confederate soldiers. When Capt. Avery was captured on the road from Booneville to Baldwyn MS, June 6, 1862, the Federal commander described his Georgians as "mounted scouts". That suggests a mix of civilian and standard issue Confederate clothing, perhaps including a few Federal accoutrements picked up on the Shiloh battlefield.

Present for duty on April 26, 1862 = 26 effectives. Avery's men were responsible for destruction of the M&O railroad bridge over the Tuscumbia River.

In 1862 you would think of 'Dragoon' as a company name rather than a description of a soldier's uniform.
