Existing information about this soldier exists in the service file. The muster roll was kept by company officers, who had no way of knowing about soldiers not actually present with the regiment. The best information available to them was recorded on the roll. If a later roll tells a different story, it's because the company commander had updated information. The hospital muster roll -- which should be in the file -- would be the most accurate of any documents. Burial information is almost never recorded, but you may rest assured that soldiers didn't receive permanent markers.
